Ask Me Script

Here's a tutorial made by 100% me. Please link me if you've followed this! The ask me script is for visitors to ask you questions about you, the owner, or the site itself. This is really simple. You will need to know HTML, and have a website that enables PHP.

1. Download Waks Ask and Answer Script. (this is the site I've downloaded from)
2. Unzip the folder.
3. Move the folder to where you want it to be displayed. I placed mine under the "interact" directory (folder).
4. Rename the ask me folder if you want, maybe into "ask" instead. For this tutorial, I'm going to use "askme", placed in the "interact" section.
5. Upload all the files to your FTP.
6. In your FTP program, CHMOD the "askme" folder to "777" with all the files in it to that number. If you can't type the number in, select all the boxes (there should be 3 rows and 3 columns).
7. Go onto the Internet and type in www.yourdomainname.com/folder/ask/setup.php
For example, mine would be: http://sugaryparadise.net/interact/askme/setup.php
8. The ask me script should now be installed. See the text on the page for confirmation.
9. You need to change your password so no one else can answer for you (or hack in). Go to www.yourdomainname.com/folder/ask/answer.php and write in the password box "askme". This will be your first and last password.
10. Now see the left side, go to "Configuration" and change the password there. You could also add your email address so questions can be automatically sent to you via email.
11. Go back to your FTP, and delete "setup.php" to avoid hacking. Remember your password as you need this to answer your questions.
12. To customise your "askme" page, use the shortcut code of your CSS. Open "askme.php" (or where you saved it) by right clicking it and choosing to open "Notepad" or Dreamweaver. The PHP file should now open in Notepad and add the shortcut CSS code at the top of that. You can add instructions of you want in this page too, but don't delete anything or add more content in between codes that are already provided.
13. You can change the title in the "askme" file, but remember to always CREDIT the website you've downloaded it from and this site for this tutorial.

And that's it! Enjoy your askme script.
